FL-13: NOT SO FAST! Margin is 368 votes.... auto recount and more...

Tue Nov 07, 2006 at 10:47:38 PM PDT

Republican Vern Buchanan won the race for U.S. House District 13 over Democrat Christine Jennings by a margin of 368 votes.

Neither Buchanan or Jennings had claimed victory as of 12:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Here.

And, as I understand, provisional ballots have yet to be counted. I highly doubt that the provisionals will result in enough votes, but regardless, this race goes to an automatic recount.

And so it should: Especially, because there is more, much more.

FL-13: Jennings 46, Buchanan 38. This is HUGE! (w/Poll)

Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 11:43:10 AM PDT

FL-13 encompasses Sarasota and surrounding areas. It's quite a beautiful area with a promising political landscape.

The first post primary poll in FL-13 has: Jennings holding an early lead over Buchanan.

Christine Jennings: 46
Vern Buchanan: 38

Significantly, the poll was conducted by Democratic pollsters Hamilton Beattie & Staff - a well regarded polling company in Florida also used by Senator Bill Nelson among others. More significantly, this is a "pre-message" poll - meaning the poll was designed for accuracy not PR.

So how is this happening in a "republican leaning" district, you ask?

Sat Jul 08, 2006 at 06:58:52 AM PDT

Katherine Harris is putting her fist down and taking her grass roots campaign to THE PEOPLE in an impressive way: Harris links Sen. Nelson to Riscorp.

Just look at that Determination!!!

Here's the background on this Breaking News:

In the early 1990s, Riscorp employees were asked to contribute to specific candidates. The employees were later reimbursed with bonus checks. The company used the scheme to pay out $380,000 in illegal contributions to 23 state, local and federal candidates.

Katherine Harris watch - 4/4/06 (w/Poll)

Tue Apr 04, 2006 at 06:38:00 AM PDT

After most of her top staff resigned over the weekend, one might think that Katherine Harris would find a way to bow out of her $10M "widow's mite" promise and ditch the race all together.

But Noooo... Harris is on the warpath again, but this time against her former staffers. Heaven help them.

FL D-13 - GOP'er Vern Buchanan nailed...

Thu Oct 06, 2005 at 07:00:36 PM PDT

"A success story that's not so simple" appeared prominently on the front page of today's (10/6/05) Sarasota Herald-Tribune. It's a scathing expose of Vern Buchanan's rise to riches.

Vern Buchanan is the GOP frontrunner (at least before this article appeared) for Florida's 13th District - an open seat being vacated by Katherine Harris and her Senate bid.

Buchanan, it seems, made his first $15.4 million the GOP way - he stole it! He screwed over a lot of people in the process and there are multitudes of lawsuits to prove it.

It's a long article, but it reads like a murder mystery... with the fairy tale ending that every GOP, Bible thumping, golden boy deserves.

This is huge news in Sarasota, Vern is well known as one of Florida's biggest GOP fundraisers - he was Co-Finance chair for Jeb Bush and Finance Chair for Mel Martinez.

The second most viable GOP candidate is Tram Hudson who has been known to instigate negative news stories about his political rivals. This GOP primary will most likely be a bloody one... stay tuned...
