David Brooks: I slam Democrats to make myself feel better

OK, I've had enough of David Brooks, AKA "Mr. Bobo". And as long as I watch PBS I'll have to see his ugly mug, in his Friday discussions with Mark Shields on the News Hour. Brooks is supposed to represent a sane conservative, but now we can see, by his own admission, he's nothing but a right-wing moron who slams people for fun.
Apparently he's got some kind of wingnutty mental issue, and he can't even control what he writes...
If I couldn't control myself when I wrote, would any major media outlet hire me? If in the course of writing an article I added "slams" against some of the people I was writing about, not for any rational reason, but just because doing so made me feel better, would that be OK?
Is that kind of douchebaggery acceptable anywhere other than wingnutland?
Apparently it is.
Here's Brooks' latest article, where he admits that when he has nothing critical to say of substance against Democrats, he simply pulls some slime out of his ass and inserts that into his columns:
...Obama’s great skill is his ability to perceive and forge bonds with other people. Everybody who’s dealt with him has a story about a time when they felt Obama profoundly listened to them and understood them. One of mine came a few years ago.
I was writing columns criticizing the Republican Congress, but each time I’d throw in a few sentences slamming the Democrats, subconsciously trying to make myself feel good. One morning I got an e-mail message from Obama that roughly said: David, if you want to critique us, fine. But you’re just throwing in those stray sentences to make yourself feel good.
I felt like a bug pinned down in a display case...
While it's awfully nice of Mr Bobo to acknowledge his mental issue, which has been perfectly apparent for a long time, shouldn't he be disqualified from writing for anything other than right-wing rags?
Shouldn't PBS hire a real Democrat like Paul Krugmnan and let them have at Brooks instead of the mild mannered Mark Shields?
